Times To Board Your Pet
March 1, 2023

Most people only take their pets to kennels when they leave town. That makes sense: after all, Fido and Fluffy really just want nothing other than to stay near their humans 24/7, gathering love, affection, and belly rubs. However, there are other times when it may be a good idea to take your furry friend to a kennel. A Kerrville TX vet lists some of them below.

Weddings

Weddings can be hectic, to say the least. If you’re having people in from out of town, your place may be a flurry of activity of people coming and going. This can be quite stressful for pets. And, lots of opening and closing doors, combined with the general commotion, can increase the chance that your furry pal could dash out as someone is coming or going.

Births

There are few events that are more life changing than welcoming a new baby into the world. Of course, births can take more or less time than expected, and generally entail spending long hours at the hospital. Consider making a plan to bring Fido to the kennel, so you can focus on welcoming your little one.

Surgical Procedures

If you’re having a minor outpatient procedure, then there may not be any need for you to board your canine buddy. However, for more invasive procedures, you may want to bring Fido to a hotel while you recuperate. Of course, some of this also depends on the size and temperament of your pooch. If you have a Pomeranian, you may want to snuggle up with your furry bff as you recuperate and catch up on your binge-watching.

Renovations

Major changes can be very stressful for our canine companions. Renovations definitely fall into that category. Fido may appreciate being spared the noise, commotion, and mess!

Moving

Moving is another time when you may need to keep your canine pal out of the way for a while. Fido will become increasingly unsettled as he notices his ‘kingdom’ being dismantled. This is also just not a good time for dogs to be underfoot. You definitely don’t want your pooch tripping your movers, or slipping out the door into a new neighborhood! Consider kennelling him on the day the movers pick things up and when they deliver.
